March 21, 2013: Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) announced today that Allegiant Air will begin new nonstop low fare service from PTI to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) beginning June 6.

Allegiant will begin the new service with twice weekly flights from PTI on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight time is approximately two hours.

To celebrate the addition of a new service to its third Florida destination, Allegiant is offering a special introductory, one-way fare of $64.99. Tickets must be purchased by midnight on Thursday, March 28, for travel through Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. Allegiant and PTI also are conducting an online contest to give away one pair of tickets on the inaugural flight departing on June 6 and returning June 9.

“We’re pleased to announce yet another affordable and convenient way for our Piedmont Triad customers to get away,” says Andrew C. Levy, president of Allegiant Travel Company. “We are confident the Triad area will appreciate the value of flying nonstop to the Fort Lauderdale area, and the great deals we offer on hotels and car rentals.”

With this new service, Allegiant Air now offers nonstop flights to three Florida destinations from PTI each week, including Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport (PIE).

“Travelers throughout the Triad and southwest Virginia have responded very well to Allegiant’s low-fare, nonstop service to Florida from PTI,” says Henry Isaacson, chairman of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. “With the addition of Fort Lauderdale, Allegiant now offers low fare, nonstop service to three of Florida’s most popular destinations.”

In January 2013, Allegiant Air boarded more than 2,500 passengers to Florida destinations from PTI. PTI also has nonstop service to Miami provided by American Airlines.
