Runway 5R/23L Rehabilitation and Closure

Mar 28, 2018 | Newsroom

Over the next few years, PTI will be implementing a phased rehabilitation of the Runway 5R/23L system.  This will include repair/replacement of runway and taxiway pavement, electrical systems, signage, etc.  Runway 5R/23L is the primary runway at PTI and this work will likely lead to temporarily modified flight patterns around the airport.

Phase 1 of the project will begin the second week in April and will include closing a portion of the Runway for construction activities while allowing the remaining portion to remain open and operating during this phase of the project. In July, weather permitting, Phase 2 will begin and the entire runway will then be closed.  This phase will last for approximately three months.  During this closure, Runway 5L/23R will be utilized as the primary runway.

This work should not affect airline schedules, but residents near the airport may observe modified air traffic patterns from early April through October 2018.
