Piedmont Triad International Airport Named One of Nation’s Top 10 Small Airports by Newsweek

Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTI) is proud to announce its recognition as one of the Top 10 Small Airports in the U.S. in the 2025 Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards. This national honor highlights PTI’s ongoing commitment to delivering a smooth, convenient, and welcoming travel experience.

Chosen by travelers and aviation enthusiasts from across the country, the Newsweek Readers’ Choice Awards recognize small airports that stand out for their exceptional service, accessibility, and traveler satisfaction—all of which align with PTI’s core mission. PTI was ranked 7th in the recent contest.

“PTI’s inclusion in another top 10 small airport ranking is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication,” said Kevin Baker, Executive Director of the Piedmont Triad Airport Authority. “It reflects our shared goal of making air travel easy and enjoyable for the people who fly from PTI.”

Located in the heart of North Carolina, PTI continues to grow as a preferred choice for both business and leisure travelers. The airport is served by Allegiant, American, Delta, and United, with Breeze Airways joining the lineup on June 6, 2025.

This year, PTI has expanded its offerings with new nonstop flights to Orlando, Florida and Hartford, Connecticut part of its broader effort to meet increasing passenger demand. Travelers also benefit from convenient parking options just steps from the terminal.

Beyond travel, PTI plays a major role in the region’s economy. The airport campus supports over 30,000 jobs and generates approximately $9 billion annually in economic impact.

“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for PTI,” Baker added. “As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering an outstanding passenger experience, expanding service options, and supporting the economic vitality of our region.”
