Under the Same Sky by Jordan Parah
As you drive into the PTI parking lot at the arrivals section, keep an eye out for “Under the Same Sky,” a striking outdoor sculpture that your car headlights will illuminate. This artwork embodies the theme of unity in diversity through its two contrasting sides. One side features sleek metallic chrome with graceful blue curves, while the other showcases a vivid blue surface interwoven with chrome accents. This contrast symbolizes the coexistence of different perspectives within a shared space.
Artist Jordan Parah, who created this piece using aluminum plate, began by plasma cutting most of the shapes by hand, with smaller, detailed pieces cut using a water jet at Hydra Cut. Once all the pieces were sanded and finished, she welded the sculpture together. Parah’s design incorporates various forms assembled in a fluid, harmonious manner inspired by the ever-changing sky. The reflective aluminum captures the light and colors of its surroundings, mirroring the beauty of sunrises, sunsets, and unique cloud formations.
Parah hopes that viewers will connect with the sculpture and find their meaning in it. “Under the Same Sky” reminds us that despite our differences, we all share the same sky, a common ground that unites us.
