Piedmont Triad International Airport | Gift Card Drive Launched to Support Local TSA Employees During Government Shutdown

Piedmont Triad, NC — The Piedmont Triad Airport Authority is organizing a community gift card drive to support Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees who continue reporting to work without pay during the federal government shutdown.

TSA officers are essential to keeping air travel safe and secure. Despite the shutdown, they continue to staff checkpoints and protect passengers every day. Many of these employees are local residents who are working without a paycheck while still managing everyday household expenses. For some, the financial strain is especially challenging, as many are still recovering from the impacts of the last federal shutdown.

To help ease the burden, the Airport Authority is asking community members to donate gift cards that TSA employees can use for basic needs such as groceries and fuel.

Donation Guidelines:

  • Gift cards must be $20 or less.
  • Acceptable gift cards include grocery stores, gas stations, and similar retailers.
  • Gift cards cannot include cards with the Visa, MasterCard, or American Express logo.

Drop-Off Location:
Piedmont Triad Airport Authority Office, departure level, inside door #4, 1000A Ted Johnson Parkway, Greensboro, NC 27409

Hours:
Monday – Friday
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

All donated gift cards will be distributed directly to the local TSA management staff to distribute to employees working at Piedmont Triad International Airport.
“These officers show up every day to keep travelers safe, even during difficult circumstances,” said Kevin Baker, Piedmont Triad Airport Authority Executive Director.
“This is a simple way for our community to show appreciation and help support the men and women who continue serving during the shutdown.”

Community members, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate and help provide relief to the local TSA workforce.
