Piedmont Triad Airport Authority Chairman Henry Isaacson gave a check for $20,000 to a representative of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Triad at the Airport Authority’s board meeting on Tuesday, July 24. The money was raised during the third annual 5K on the Runway, which was held June 2nd, with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) supporting the run as the name sponsor.
“We were pleased with the participation in the run this year,” Isaacson said. “Thanks to those who came out to run and to our generous sponsors, we are able to provide this money to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society so they can continue their good work.”
The run, which drew close to 1,000 participants this year, has been held annually for the past three years to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ® (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
Isaacson expressed particular gratitude to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. The company has been the name sponsor for the 5K run for the past two years.
