This month we are highlighting our Airfield Operations Manager (AOM), Dan Hixson. As AOM, Dan is responsible but ensuring the airfield environment (including runways and taxiways) are safe and ready for aircraft usage. Dan began his tenure at PTI in December of 2019 – happy 2nd anniversary! Prior to joining the Airport Authority, Dan worked as an Airport Operations Specialist in Burlington Vermont at Burlington International Airport (BTV).
Dan’s love for airports began in his younger years when he first learned to drive a car and fly hang gliders at a small airport in Indiana. When he isn’t working, you can find Dan enjoy nice weather on his motorcycle, or hiking with his dog. Fun fact: Dan is an avid skier thanks to his time spent in Utah and Vermont.
A favorite quote that Dan shared that expresses how and why he values errors: “I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.”
