October 6, 2020 – Want to go to a movie? How about a movie at the airport?

Piedmont Triad International Airport will hold a Movie Night at the Airport featuring the Disney movie Up on Saturday night, November 7th. The movie will be projected on two 40 x 20-foot outdoor screens in the South Parking Lot at the airport. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 7:30. Participants must register online prior to the event. Registration information may be found at www.flyfrompti.com/movie-night

The airport is holding the event to engage the community, highlighting the airport as an important transportation hub and economic engine, and to recognize the sponsors and participants of the 2020 Run on the Runway that resulted in just under $100k donations to food banks in Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem.

Proceeds from the $20 per car admission fee will also go to local food banks. Moviegoers are also being asked to bring two non-perishable food items.

“Drive-in movies aren’t exactly business as usual for PTI,” said Paul Mengert, the chairman of the Airport Authority. “But 2020 isn’t exactly a typical year.”

“The COVID-19 virus has changed the way that Piedmont Triad residents live, the way that we work and the way that we travel,” Mengert said. “Everyone is feeling a bit isolated and a bit cooped up.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy a night out and to watch a film from the comfort and safety of their vehicle,” Mengert said.

Admission to the feature film will be limited to 150 automobiles, which will be parked in a checkerboard pattern, with an empty parking space between each vehicle. Moviegoers may sit outside their cars to enjoy the movie as long as they stay within their own parking space.

Up is rated PG. For more information visit www.flyfrompti.com/movie-night or email Kaley Skantz at SkantzK@gsoair.org or call 336-534-0758.
